Here's what Jeff believes the tech sector will bring us in 2021 Each year, I like to take a look at the big image and forecast what's simply around the corner. These patterns are experiencing exponential development and producing amazing chances for investors. 5G Gadgets Our new 5G (fifth-generation) cordless networks are a subject I've been covering for years now.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains last year, an excellent 250 million 5G-enabled devices were still offered. Particularly in the second quarter, there were supply chain disruptions, producing delays, and work blockages. And all of this eventually led to Apple delaying the release of the 5G-enabled i, Phone 12 by two months.
When you consider all of that, offering 250 million systems is remarkable. More importantly, the delays triggered by the pandemic developed a lots of suppressed need. And that need is now going to be pressed into 2021. In truth, I anticipate that more than 500 million 5G devices will be delivered in 2021.
Stage 3 of 5G When I've spoken about 5G in the past, I have actually explained its 3 different phases. In Phase One, the infrastructure of these new networks is constructed out, including all the brand-new towers and fiber-optic electrical wiring that 5G will require. In Phase 2, 5G gadgets go on sale.
And in Stage Three, 5G services begin to be provided. That's when we start to see applications running on 5G networks. And my 2nd 5G prediction for 2021 is that we will start Phase 3 by this summer.
However they will care if there are exciting applications that can just be accessed with a 5G phone. So a growing number of consumers will head out to purchase a 5G phone to gain access to these applications. That leads to more 5G apps being developed. In fact, 5G is going to open a suite of incredible applications: self-driving vehicles, the Internet of Things, robotic surgical treatment, and more.
